Mako Woods crafts thoughtfully constructed bespoke, singular pieces to furnish your home and life. Sole proprietor Jonathan Butler sources fine materials and painstakingly works them to reveal luminosity, beauty, and a quiet grandeur in each piece. As a result, every Mako Woods work is both an every day piece of furniture as well as a singular work of art.

Born from frustration and disgust with the fast-furniture industry, Mako Woods takes great pride in offering an alternative to mass produced, disposable furnishings. By applying the principles of honesty, respect, integrity, and excellence, Mako Woods is able to to further what is possible in modern wood design. Every detail is carefully considered, as evidenced by the inherent completeness and subtle complexity of each custom piece.

Striking a balance between tradition and innovation, the ordinary becomes the extraordinary in the hands of craftsman Butler. Self taught, he combines techniques and knowledge from a variety of cultures and traditions to create unparalleled pieces that are immediately recognizable as a Mako Woods piece.

Butler is able to combine this singular sense of style with an ability to offer every client careful and considerate attention to their particular needs. A natural extension of his implicit care and concern, buildinf to satisfy clients and a variety of spaces excites Butler's creativity. Each item is an opportunity to both honor the materials and manufacture an item of strength and beauty that will to last generations.

Every Mako Woods piece is affectionately built, from start to finish, by Butler at his own workshop. The shop is an extension of his home in Fayetteville, NC, where he lives with his wife, their daughter, and two very loyal dogs.
